Litigation Management & E-Discovery
Senior Counsel for Complex Litigation
Some cases are larger than the firms handling them. Complex, multi-party, and document-intensive litigation can demand more senior capacity, discovery infrastructure, and day-to-day management than a firm has available—particularly when a single matter involves millions of documents, dozens of parties, or coordination across multiple courts.
T. M. Rutledge Law serves as litigation management and e-discovery counsel to other law firms. We provide the experienced oversight these cases require, from building a discovery plan and managing large-scale document review to coordinating among parties and keeping a complex matter organized, defensible, and moving forward.
What We Handle
Experience at the Largest Scale
Mr. Rutledge served as Director and Senior Litigation Management Counsel in the National Prescription Opiate Litigation, one of the largest and most complex litigation efforts in American history. That role involved managing large-scale discovery, coordinating across numerous parties, assessing risk, and overseeing case management at a scale few attorneys encounter.
The lessons of that work carry directly into how we support other firms: how to structure discovery in a high-volume case, how to keep document review efficient and defensible, and how to manage the moving parts of complex litigation without losing sight of strategy or cost.
Who We Work With
We work primarily with other law firms—serving as co-counsel or in a support role—that need additional senior capacity to handle a complex or document-heavy matter. Engagements are structured to fit the case, whether that means ongoing involvement throughout the litigation or discrete, project-based support for discovery and document review.
We also work directly with corporate clients and insurers involved in complex, document-intensive litigation requiring experienced discovery and case-management support. In every engagement, the goal is the same: to bring order and strategy to complex litigation while controlling unnecessary expense and delay.
Engagements can be structured to meet the needs of the matter. In some cases, the firm serves as litigation management counsel throughout the life of the case. In others, we are brought in to address a specific challenge, such as discovery planning, document review management, privilege analysis, or e-discovery strategy.
